Mere is a passionate advocate for climate action and Indigenous self-determination, deeply informed by Māori knowledge and values. Based in Aotearoa New Zealand, her work centers on collaborative resource management and empowering local communities to address the impacts of climate change. As a co-founder of the Pacific Whale Consortium, she champions ocean conservation and the interconnectedness of Pacific ecosystems, including implementing rāhui as a vital tool for marine protection. Additionally, as a Circular Bioeconomy Alliance Ambassador, Mere actively promotes community-based adaptation strategies. She brings extensive experience in fostering interdisciplinary solutions and bridging cultural understanding with scientific insights. Mere is honoured to join the Rāhui Center’s Advisory Board and contribute to their crucial mission of amplifying Pacific voices in environmental governance and supporting community-led climate resilience across the Pacific.
